The 2nd annual Cliffbanger was upon us. Once again, Dreamthief and Cliff’s Dive Bar wanted to put on a night of music for us to remember on the eve of Memorial Day. This go around we had a largely fresh line up. We began with the Des Moines band Diezeleater to ‘ease’ us into the festivities yet to come. Then came Hookshot, the Skate Punk/Melodic Hardcore band to give us a minor break from the moshing and circle pits still yet to come. Dirtgod, the new and fresh band from up the Cedar Falls area brought back the heaviness to get the crowd swinging and the floor shaking. Power Pop favorites from Iowa City, TV Cop gave us the penultimate performance of the night, with pop filled melodies for us all to sing along to and a much needed breather before the coming storm that is Dreamthief. Dreamthief once again got the entire crowd to mosh and headbang along to their hour long set. If you missed this installment of Cliffbanger, well, you missed out on a fantastic show. I suspect and hope that next year we will see what is in store for us with a 3rd annual installment of the much needed event for Cedar Rapids.
